For its economic development, OLMA Messen St. Gallen requires additional exhibition space. To this end, the Rosenberg Tunnel will be extended to the east (highway covering over approximately 200 m in length), and a new exhibition hall will then be constructed on the newly created space.

The new exhibition hall is also located above the SBB tunnel running parallel to and north of the highway. The covering is already being built wide enough to allow for a third tunnel tube planned for the late 2020s to be constructed south of the existing highway using the cut-and-cover method. The covering structure is largely being constructed using precast elements (prestressed concrete beams) with cast-in-place concrete additions, as the highway can only be closed for assembly during nighttime hours.
The project is being executed in a joint venture together with Amberg Engineering (tunnel construction, highway logistics) and Seger Ingenieure (utilities, surroundings, coordination).
