Allmend Sports Arena, Lucerne

The load-bearing structure of the stadium roof consists of steel truss girders, cantilevered 22 m and arranged radially at intervals of 20 to 22 m. Truss purlins span between the main girders. The main girders rest on triangular concrete slabs towards the stadium interior and on a slender tension/compression support in the facade plane. The two support points of the roof cantilever are connected via the wall slab on the ground floor and the foundation beam to prevent tensile forces from being introduced into the subsoil. The substructure of the grandstand and the VIP box structure are constructed in cast-in-place concrete. The grandstand tiers consist of prefabricated concrete elements. Floating driven piles transfer the building load into the subsoil.
